Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
