Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Kansas

Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Kansas

Utilize a Pneumatic Forklift
You can normally find pneumatic forklifts in shipping and warehouse operations. Also called pallet trucks or pump trucks, they are utilized to move supplies and products around on wooden pallets using metal forks that are mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight includes a pump that lifts the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is designed to be operated by a single person.

Pallet trucks must be operated carefully in order to avoid loss of control while lifting heavy loads. Machine must be inspected prior to operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstructions. Make sure that the handle turns smoothly. The pallet should be carefully stacked to ensure that nothing will fall off during transportation.

On the end of the pallet truck's handle, squeeze the level found on the inside of the metal loop in order to lower the forks and release the air in the pump. The forks can then be pushed into the slots of the pallet. The forks should be centered to be able to guarantee even distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Raise the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has cleared the ground completely. Do not lift the pallet very high or the forklift could unbalance.

Move the pallet by pulling on the handle and then dragging it behind you. It is not safe to push the pallet ahead of you as the thrust could cause it to lose control. Slowly take turns and don't try to stop suddenly. Stop gradually, squeeze the lever, and the forks will lower to the ground. Lastly, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent place.
