Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, as the demand for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Because of the economic recession in the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the initial few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machines.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC equipment with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machinery provide supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
