Mast
The mast needs to be smoothly moving down and up when utilizing the lift control lever. Be sure to check to see if the mast is tilting forwards and backwards in a smooth way. You might need to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, because there is a fitting located on both sides of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are another lubrication spot.

Forks
The blades have to be checked for cracks, damage and wear because worn or cracked forks can fail with out any warnings. Of course, any damaged fork means taking the truck out of service at once. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they must be replaced since they really can't be safely repaired.
